Ex-Midfielder Donati on Correa: “Inter Have Found A Player For The Future”

Former AC Milan midfielder Massimo Donati was impressed with Joaquin Correa’s debut in Inter’s win over Hellas Verona yesterday.

Speaking with Italian broadcaster DAZN (via FcInter1908) last night, the 40-year-old Italian first touched on the former Lazio forward’s impact.

“Crazy. Correa had an incredible impact. He made himself available with his qualities that everyone knew were important, with the right head.

“A devastating impact, Inter have found a player for the future and what a player.”

He commented on the importance of having good squad players for rotations.

“The important thing is that whoever is called upon proves themselves every time. There are a lot of commitments.

“If you have reliable players, who solve tough games like tonight’s, if you have players like that, rotation is easier.”

The former Atalanta and Hellas Verona midfielder touched on if the star of the attack is now Lautaro Martinez following Romelu Lukaku’s move to Chelsea.

“Lukaku overshadowed everyone, in quotes. The other teammates scored goals too, but he was the one. The ball was always on him, he protected the ball, he scored goals.

“Now there is the involvement of more players, who are all on the same level, the team as a whole is enhanced compared to before, the Belgian was mainly focused on.”

Finally, Donati spoke about the impressive usage of substitutions by new coach Simone Inzaghi.

“Also Vidal coming on, he is charismatic, gives help to his teammates, then Verona dropped a bit.

“Inzaghi made his substitutions well. He managed to give an extra help to the team to go and try to win the match, people came on the pitch who showed they were hungry to win.”

Inzaghi has had an incredible start to his time with Inter, winning the opening two games against Genoa and Hellas Verona.

The Nerazzurri will now have a short break, facing Sampdoria on 12th September after the upcoming international break.

Inzaghi’s first top challenge of the season will come on 15th September, when the Milanese side face Real Madrid in their Champions League opener.
