Ex-Watford Sporting Director Gianluca Nani: “Inter Did What They Had To Do On Transfer Market”

Former Watford Sporting Director Gianluca Nani believes that Inter have had a successful transfer window in spite of losing key players over the summer.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb.com, the Italian gave his view that the Nerazzurri have ably replaced departed striker Romelu Lukaku after the Belgian’s sale to Chelsea.

Lukaku’s exit came as a major blow which many observers believed would significantly weaken Inter’s squad and performance levels, especially as it followed the departure of Achraf Hakimi who was solid to Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the Nerazzurri went about the process of replacing the striker, and in the end have not looked weak in attack in their first two Serie A fixtures, with the arrivals of Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa adding reliable quality in forward areas for manager Simone Inzaghi to call upon.

Of Dzeko, brought in from Roma as the first post-Lukaku signing in attack, Nani stated that “He has always scored, but he is different from Lukaku. He operates more in the air, and works for the team. In the end, Inter did what they had to do.”
