Inter could be without the South American players in their squad currently on international duty when they face Sampdoria on September 12.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the likes of Lautaro Martinez, Joaquin Correa, Matias Vecino, and Arturo Vidal for the fixture, given that they are set to participate in one extra World Cup qualifier with their countries and may not be ready for the Sampdoria clash.

A large portion of the Nerazzurri’s squad are currently away with their national sides as part of the international break, and in the case of the South Americans in the team, they are set to play one more 2022 World Cup qualifier than had originally been planned for, to make up for one which had been missed in the spring due to COVID considerations.

Accordingly, those squad members currently with Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay are not a guarantee to be ready to be selected for the third matchday of Serie A, as their return from international duty will be postponed due to the extended calendar.
