Inter striker Edin Dzeko is determined to retain his place in the starting eleven after having started both of the Nerazzurri’s opening two matches.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the Bosnian wants to lead line for his club on a regular basis and make a major impression for the defending Italian champions.

Dzeko arrive from Roma last month as part of the Nerazzurri’s strengthening of their attack following the departure of Romelu Lukaku, and he immediately slotted into the starting eleven against Genoa in the club’s first Serie A fixture.

The 35-year-old started once again against Hellas Verona, but his starting spot could be under threat with the new competition of the recently-arrived Joaquin Correa alongside the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez.

Dzeko has every intention of keeping his place, however, and will work hard to play a major role as the Nerazzurri look to compete on multiple fronts over a long season.
