Inter are in pole position to bring in Andre Onana for free next summer, with the Cameroonian keeper’s contract talks with Ajax looking to be decisively stalled.

This according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, who report that the Nerazzurri are still working to make the 25-year-old the long-term replacement for first-choice keeper Samir Handanovic and that they are the favourites for his signature ahead of Napoli who are also interested.

Onana is out of contract with the Dutch champions at the end of June 2022, and an agreement on a new deal looks far away meaning that he could depart as a free agent next summer.

The Nerazzurri have been tracking the 25-year-old for some months as they look to find a successor for Handanovic who is 37, and while talks with his entourage have not yet led to any formal pre-contract, there is an agreement in principle, and Inter look set to sign him ahead of the Partenopei when his contract runs out.
