Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi will take charge of his 200th Serie A match as head coach during the Nerazzurri’s clash with Sampdoria at the Marassi on Sunday.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who point out that the Italian tactician is sitting on 199 Serie A fixtures, the vast majority with Lazio, and will hit the milestone over the weekend.

Inzaghi took charge of Lazio on an interim basis midway through the 2015-16 season after manager Stefano Pioli was sacked, eventually becoming full-time manager.

Other than an extremely brief interlude where Marcelo Bielsa was officially appointed as the club’s manager during the summer but then resigned the current Inter boss stayed in the position continually up until this summer.

Inzaghi was on the bench for all of the Biancocelesti’s Serie A fixtures from that point on until this season’s opener when his successor Maurizio Sarri was head coach.

The 45-year-old will face opponents against whom he usually emerges victorious in the form of Sampdoria, whom he has managed to get the better of in eight out of eleven meetings.

Current Sampdoria boss Roberto D’Aversa is also the only coach that Inzaghi has faced four or more times who he has never dropped points two, having beaten D’Aversa’s Parma side seven times including in a Coppa Italia victory, another potential good omen that the coach will enjoy this milestone.
