Federico Dimarco could start once again for Inter in tomorrow’s Champions League group stage opener against Real Madrid should Alessandro Bastoni not be available for selection.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 23-year-old will likely be selected by Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi if Bastoni is not fully fit for the clash, with the 22-year-old a doubt thanks to a recent thigh injury.

Dimarco made his first ever start for the Nerazzurri over the weekend against Sampdoria, in place of Bastoni who had picked up a knock while on international duty.

The Hellas Verona loan returnee put in a solid display capped off by his first ever goal for his boyhood club and could once again play from the start in the important match against Real.

Bastoni would be the first-choice option should he be fully fit for tomorrow’s match, but he will not be risked if his fitness is still a doubt and if he is to miss the clash then Dimarco will be the one to take his place in the backline.
