Edin Dzeko After Champions League Loss: “This Defeat Burns Because We Played Well”

Inter striker Edin Dzeko has expressed his pain at the defeat Inter suffered against Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking after the match to Sport Mediaset, with quotes reported by FCInter1908the Bosnian striker explained that the defeat hurts much more than normal because Inter actually played very well and deserved to get something from the match.

“This defeat for Inter burns because we played a great match against a great opponent. It is always a pity when we lose because we deserved so much more.”

He was very honest though about the fact that if a team does not score at all in the game, they can not feel too hard done by to have not won the game. That being said, a draw would have been a much fairer reflection of how the two teams had played throughout the 90 minutes.

“If you don’t score, you can’t win, but there also could have been a draw at the end.”

Edin Dzeko has come under fire for his performance in the match because he missed some very presentable opportunities in the first half to put Inter ahead.
