Legendary former Inter striker Samuel Eto’o has given his thoughts on another great former Nerazzurri player, Giacinto Facchetti, heaping praise on the former fullback.
Speaking while accepting the Giacinto Facchetti award, the Cameroonian gave his thanks for the award which he considers an honour, and paid tribute to the legendary former player after whom it is named.
Facchetti spent nearly two decades playing for Inter, winning every competition available during his time with the club and cementing his place as one of the most significant players in the club’s storied history.
However, the former full-back’s influence at Inter was not only on the pitch, and as Eto’o emphasized in his speech, Facchetti could be thought of in the same way as club President Massimo Moratti, like a figure with a steadying influence.
Treble hero Eto’o is glad to be part of the legacy that Fachetti also played a major part in creating, stating “Thanks for thinking of me. For his contribution to Inter Giacinto Facchetti was like another Moratti. I embrace you all.”
