Inter reached a major milestone by beating Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi yesterday, achieving their 1500th victory in Serie A.
This is highlighted on the club’s official site, which places yesterday’s win in an historical context which shows the extent to which the Nerazzurri have been a part of the Italian top flight for many decades.
Yesterday evening’s 3-1 win in Tuscany was first and foremost important for the present, with three important points earned through an impressive comeback in tough circumstances keeping the Nerazzurri’s strong start at the top end of the Serie A table going.
However, the club as a whole also managed to reach a milestone which is much larger than the team of Simone Inzaghi, still only five league matches into his reign as Inter boss.
The club note a number of individual and collective statistics added to by yesterday evening’s win in Tuscany, but none are as grandiose or reach as far back in time as the fact that the Nerazzurri have now made it 1500 wins in Serie A.
The club note that this accomplishment has come “91 years, 11 months and 15 days after the first-ever win in the competition (over Livorno back in October 1929).”
