An Italian journalist has suggested that Inter are already underachieving in the Champions League this season after just two matches, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Whilst writing for Corriere della Sera, Mario Sconcerti explained that the side have not done what eas expected of them in the first two matches given the Nerazzurri have just one point and have not yet scored a goal in the tournament.

“We expected more after two games, a point and not even a goal, a pace not like a new protagonist, just old professionalism. A result that postpones, but does not resolve.”

The journalist adds that the qualification route for Inter has been made extremely complicated by the remarkable performances from the Moldovan side, FC Sheriff Tirapsol.

They are top of the group having already beaten Shakhtar Donetsk at home in Transnistria, and Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

“Now, above all, we need to understand what the technical dimension of Sheriff is who also beat Real Madrid. It is an unlikely but documented reality. They beat Shakhtar too.

“If it’s a real team, the entire qualification is in danger.”

Inter meanwhile are third in the group, with only Shakhtar beneath them. Real Madrid are just two points ahead of Inter in second so all hope is not lost yet for the Nerazzurri.
