Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana will leave his current club to join Inter on a free transfer next summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 25-year-old is ready to make the switch and will do so at the end of his contract.

Inter have been searching for a long-term successor to Samir Handanovic, and Onana has been widely reported as one of their primary targets for some time.

It now appears that, barring any major surprises, the Cameroonian plans to accept the Nerazzurri’s offer to join the club next summer when his contract with the Dutch champions expires at the end of June 2022.

Onana will be able to make his return to competitive action in about a month’s time, with his one-year doping ban set to end on November 3, though it remains to be seen what his current club will do considering that he looks to have no long-term future in Amsterdam, and could begin the process of signing for Inter after the January transfer window.
