Inter have been able to regularly rely on the goal-scoring contributions of substitutes in Serie A this season, with their six goals from the bench the most in Serie A so far this campaign.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who highlight the importance of goals from substitutes in the Nerazzurri’s recent comeback wins.

Inter have managed to turn around three matches in which they trailed at the interval, away to Hellas Verona, Fiorentina, and Sassuolo.

In Verona, they had to rely on a brace from Joaquin Correa on his debut for the club, while against Sassuolo over the weekend it was the contribution of Edin Dzeko who equalized immediately after coming onto the pitch before winning the decisive penalty which swung the clash in their favour.

The number of goals from substitutes could be even higher had Federico Dimarco converted a late penalty against Atalanta, with the 23-year-old yet another player who has regularly come onto the pitch during the second halves of games.

These goals from substitutes have shown the importance of the squad depth to Simone Inzaghi’s approach to finding another gear and much-needed goals in the second periods of matches.
