Inter could sell Stefan de Vrij next summer should he not renew his current contract, with the club ready to sacrifice the Dutchman in order to keep other top players.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who claim that the Nerazzurri would be willing to listen to offers amid interest in the 29-year-old from English clubs.

De Vrij’s current deal at Inter is set to expire at the end of June 2023, and should an agreement not be found on an extension then next summer would be the last time that the club could sell him for a substantial fee.

Given that the financial issues at the club are still ongoing even after the substantial market gains in the summer, selling the defender could be a way for the club to avoid having to sell other key assets.

The defender’s agent Mino Raiola has already probed the interest of clubs in the Premier League in particular, and the Dutchman could potentially be allowed to leave if the right offer came along.
