Inter will meet with Marcelo Brozovic and his entourage about renewing his contract this week in the hopes of beginning the process of finding an agreement.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the meeting would be the first one but that more could be needed to wrap up the process.

Brozovic’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June 2022, but the 28-year-old is a highly important midfielder at the Giuseppe Meazza and the club have no intention of seeing him leave on a free transfer next summer.

It is thought that the midfielder’s desire is also to stay at his current club, although an agreement on wages would also have to be found first.

Brozovic’s demand is reported to be over €5 million net per season, closer to €6 million including add-ons, while the club are ready to go no higher than around €4 million net which is not much more than he currently earns.

The two parties will have to come together on the finances involved in a new contract, but the process will soon be underway.
