Newly re-elected Milan Mayor Beppe Sala is ready to meet with Inter and AC Milan about the new San Siro project, but intends to make sure the right decision is made on it.

Speaking in a press conference reported by Italian news service AskaNews, the Mayor stressed that he wants to consider all viewpoints as the project moves forward.

The project to build a new San Siro in Milan had to be put on hold as the city went through a municipal election, with the composition of the city council up in the air at a point where important decisions affecting the city would have to be made.

However, the elections are now done, and with Sala retaining his position as Mayor and the new council known, he is ready to move forward on the San Siro.

Ultimately, many factors and interests will have to be considered, but the talks are now in progress that should lead to construction getting underway in due time.

Sala explained that Inter and Milan “have asked me to meet them and I will do it soon” to talk about the new San Siro, “then yes, it will be time to decide”.

“Not everyone sees it in the same way, but everyone knows what the rule is: in the end I will make the decision. There are issues to be discussed with the clubs, but we cannot keep them waiting for long.”
