Inter forward Joaquin Correa will not return to Italy sooner than scheduled despite a fitness concern that could keep him out of the Argentine national team’s match against Peru on Thursday night.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, who report that the 27-year-old will remain in Argentina for further examination and that it is unclear whether he will be in the squad to face Peru.

Correa started for the Albiceleste against Paraguay before coming off the bench in the second half in their second World Cup qualifier against Paraguay on Sunday.

However, the Inter man picked up a muscle problem in training yesterday which he had looked at and which does not look to be a serious injury but could rule him out of the national team’s last match of the international break.

Whether or not Correa is deemed fit to be in the squad for the Peru clash, however, it does not look to be the case that he will be allowed to return to Italy early.
