The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia which controls the Public Investment Fund are determined to add Inter to their growing list of assets in the West, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Il Giornale, Mohammed bin Salman wants to create a network of football clubs in Europe that are under the control of PIF, who recently purchased Premier League side Newcastle United.

Almost overnight, Newcastle United became the richest club in the world based on the net worth of ownership, and Inter could head in the same direction.

Suning are still standing by their €1 billion valuation of the football club but it is thought that if PIF were to meet that, Suning would happily agree to the sale as they are in a financial crisis back in China.

Up until this point, Inter’s executives have always denied any serious interest from Saudi Arabia in the team.
