A former Palermo and Torino player has said that Inter interrupted the dominance that Juventus had been showing in Serie A, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.
Speaking during a broadcast on 1 Station Radio, Stefano Sorrentino was discussing who will be victorious in this season’s Serie A title race.
“Scudetto? It’s still early, it’s a balanced championship and, since last year with Inter, Juventus’ dominance was interrupted.
The goalkeeper who played 117 times for Palermo also clearly thinks Atalanta still have a very strong chance of winning the title because people often underestimate them and Gianpiero Gasperini.
“This year I see that many underestimate Atalanta, I would be careful because Gasperini’s Nerazzurri are always a good team.”
Juventus have been the dominant force in Italy for the best part of a decade now having won nine Serie A titles in a row under Antonio Conte, Massimiliano Allegri, and Maurizio Sarri.
The run came to an end when Andrea Pirlo took over at the Bianconeri without having much managerial experience at all last season.
They ended up finishing in fourth place which was enough for Champions League qualification.
