Italian journalist Maurizio Compagnoni believes that one of Inter’s primary problems concerns managing the entirety of matches after their 3-1 loss against Lazio on Saturday.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the journalist gave the view that the Nerazzurri struggle to play well over the entire ninety minutes of matches.

Inter have shown their quality in flashes in all of their matches, but in many of their most important games they have looked to have lost control in key moments.

Comeback wins have come against the likes of Hellas Verona, Fiorentina, and Sassuolo in matches where the Nerazzurri have deservedly trailed at the half, while they also had to overcome a halftime deficit to draw with Atalanta.

Against Lazio, the situation was reversed, with Simone Inzaghi’s putting in a good display and restricting the Biancocelesti for the better part of an hour to defend an early lead before getting undone in the second half.

For Compagnoni, this is evidence that the team still must work on their game management across ninety minutes.

“Inter score a lot in the league, in the Champions League they put their opponents under pressure, but there is also a lot of randomness,” he stated.

“At the moment Inter have a problem of continuity within the same game,” he explained. “This is a probable consequence of the change of coach, same formation but different interpretation. If at Christmas the problems are the same, Inzaghi will have to worry. But I think it’s a problem that can be solved in the short term.”
