Ex-Coach Of Inter Youngster Samuele Mulattieri: “We Were In Love With Him”

A former coach of Samuele Mulattieri has explained how fond he was of the Inter youngster during his loan spell with Volendam, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ruben Jongkind, strategic consultant at Dutch side Volendam, explained how good of a player Samuele Mulattieri is and how he developed whilst in The Netherlands.

“One of our scouts saw him and we talked immediately with the Inter managers. We were in love with him.

“With us he had an evident development, also as a person. He studied English, he understood what it is like to live alone in the world of adults. And then he learned to play as a true number 9, to dominate spaces.”

Samuele Mulattieri spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Volendam and he made thirty appearances for them. In that time he scored an extremely impressive 18 goals.

Ruben Jongkind explained that he thinks the Dutch second division is one of the best leagues to develop young talent as there is so much football to play.

“Our Serie B has an average age of around 22, in Europe it is one of the best leagues to train talents.

“Compared to many places, here you play more, you know a new culture and you also learn another language. There is the possibility of opening up to the world.”

Samuele Mulattieri is now on loan at Crotone in Serie B and he has really started to impress there as well. He has scored seven goals in nine appearances including the Coppa Italia and is maturing every week.
