Inter are now just one result away from confirming their place in the Champions League knockout rounds for the first time in a decade, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera today, a win against Shakhtar Donetsk in the next group match will be enough to see Inter safely through their Champions League group, which looked unlikely at one stage.

Shakhtar Donetsk are already out of the competition as they have only amassed one point so far, but they do still have a chance of finishing third and qualifying for the Europa League instead.

That would require them beating Inter and FC Sheriff, and hoping that FC Sheriff suffer defeat against Real Madrid.

Inter are one point ahead of FC Sheriff now in third place having beaten the Moldovan side twice in the past two weeks, which was vital for Inter’s hopes.
