An Italian journalist suggested that Simone Inzaghi can deliver a certain achievement for Inter that two previous coaches have failed to do, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media today.
Speaking whilst on Sky Sport, via FCInternews, Matteo Marani explained that Simone Inzaghi can deliver Champions League knockout football to Inter, which Luciano Spalletti and Antonio Conte failed to do.
“Inzaghi in the Champions League can do what Spalletti and Conte failed to do.”
Inter are one win away from securing their safe passage through to the round of 16 having won both of their matches over Moldovan side FC Sheriff. A win over Shakhtar Donetsk will see them safely through.
Matteo Marani also discussed the quality of depth in the Inter and AC Milan squads. He feels Inter has the upper hand in this regard.
“Milan have approached Inter, but at the bench level I put the Nerazzurri ahead: the two Chileans are doing well.”
There was also comment passed on the quality of the two managers, Simone Inzaghi and Stefano Pioli. He singled out the AC Milan coach for the excellent league form of his side.
“They do not play the same way, but they have similar characteristics and I like both. Pioli is doing a great job in the league, Milan have found an extra gear.”
