Former AC Milan manager Arrigo Sacchi has praised Simone Inzaghi’s Inter for their performances against FC Sheriff in the Champions League, according to a report in the Italian media.
Whilst writing for La Gazzetta dello Sport, Arrigo Sacchi explained that Inter played with courage and style as they beat FC Sheriff in the Champions League for a second time in two weeks.
“Inzaghi’s Inter wins 3-1 with Sheriff playing a good match with courage and style. The difference in quality was evident.”
Inter only took one point from their first two matches in the Champions League group stage this season as they lost 1-0 to Real Madrid and drew with Shakhtar Donetsk.
That is why the two games against Moldovan side FC Sheriff were vital if Inter were to qualify for the round of 16 in the Champions League for the first time since 2011.
“The Nerazzurri are growing and are one step away from qualification, Shakhtar permitting. Perhaps they could have scored earlier if they had raised the pressure, the pace and the movements even more and without the ball.
“In any case it was an excellent performance that bodes well for the future.”
It took Inter until the second half before they managed to make the breakthrough even though they created many clear chances. Marcelo Brozovic scored the first of the three goals.
