Inter will be relying on their top players to show their quality in this evening’s first Milan derby of the season, and striker Edin Dzeko will be foremost among the players who they will expect to make the difference.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who highlight the significance of the Bosnian to the Nerazzurri’s play and how his contribution could be the one that wins the match over city rivals AC Milan.

Dzeko takes over as Inter’s Number Nine from Romelu Lukaku, who had a record of five goals from five Milan derbies, four of which were wins, and so the 35-year-old will have a major legacy to inherit.

The former Roma striker has not found the back of the net in his past three matches, having made a cameo appearance against Empoli before failing to score against Udinese and Sheriff Tiraspol.

However, the Bosnian’s performances in those matches showed why he is relied on, and up to his goal against Juventus two weeks ago he had been highly prolific in the league.

Coach Simone Inzaghi will almost certainly turn to the Bosnian to start once again, and will hope that he takes this massive occasion as an opportunity to resume scoring as he had been.
