Inter striker Edin Dzeko will not play for the Bosnian national team in their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Finland as he recovers from a thigh injury.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 35-year-old will soon undergo more tests that will determine the extent of his injury but that he is set to be rested for the Finland clash while he recovers.

Dzeko pulled up after a sprint during the Milan derby on Sunday, and he immediately signalled to the bench that he would be unable to continue.

Tests while with the Bosnia and Herzgovina national team have revealed that the striker suffered a thigh strain, and in the next day or two he will undergo further examinations which will give a better idea of when he can return.

In the meantime, the Bosnian is not expected to be back in time for his country’s clash with Finland on Saturday, though it remains to be seen whether he can play in their second match of the international break, against Ukraine, and what his status will be for his club after the break.
