Julio Acosta, former teammate of Lautaro Martinez from Liniers, believes that the Inter striker will stay at his club for a long time.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Acosta explained that the 24-year-old speaks highly of the Nerazzurri, and also weighed in his goal drought.

Martinez recently signed a significant contract extension at the Nerazzurri, committing his future to the club until 2026.

The Argentine has grown in stature at the club every season since joining in the summer of 2018, and now he is one of the main talismans for the team up front and a major source of goals.

Even though Martinez has struggled to find the back of the net of late, not having scored since returning from the October international break, he remains a player who the Nerazzurri rely on in the final third for many different qualities.

According to Acosta, the 24-year-old is ready to continue on in this important role for some time to come.

“I am convinced that Lautaro will stay in Milan for a long time,” he stated. “He speaks very highly of Inter, he and his family are very happy there.”

“Every player dreams of winning the Champions League and the World Cup,” he went on, “both Inter and Argentina can fight for these objectives.”

And on the striker’s recent lack of goals he stated that “Every striker feeds on goals and Lautaro is not an exception: he has a very strong mentality.”

He reflected that “I am convinced that this is just a temporary period, he will never lose his ability in front of goal.”
