The Si Meazza group have suggested that the hardline approach being taken by Milan Mayor Beppe Sala could lead to court appeals around the new San Siro stadium, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera, the Si Meazza committee are extremely upset with the approach taken by Beppe Sala over the new stadium.

“This autocratic line is likely to lead to an exacerbation of minds, provoking appeals to the administrative courts, as well as possible referendums.”

The Mayor of Milan has shown no interest at all in hosting a referendum on the fate of the existing stadium but the Si Meazza group feel that this is a mistake and could lead to court action.

The Mayor is very keen to push ahead with the project as he has achieved all the agreements that he wanted to achieve with the two football clubs, AC Milan and Inter.

The main obstacle now appears to be those who do not want to see the original stadium be demolished completely.
