Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will be hoping to secure a first win against a rival for the Serie A title when his side welcome Napoli to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza tomorrow.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Lazio coach is yet to taste success against a direct title challenger since taking over from Antonio Conte at the start of the season.

Napoli currently sit top of the table on goal difference and would pull 10 points clear of Inter with victory, although the newspaper highlighted how close Inter had come to wins over AC Milan, Atalanta, and Juventus this term.

The Nerazzurri drew 2-2 against Atalanta at home in late September but missed a fine chance to win the game when Federico Dimarco missed a penalty, whilst Lautaro Martinez’s missed spotkick in the Derby della Madonnina cost Inter the win in a 1-1 draw against AC Milan.

Inzaghi’s side were left furious when the tables were turned against Juventus, as Paulo Dybala netted late on from the spot to snatch a 1-1 draw and a point for the Bianconeri.

Had those results gone Inter’s way, they would be battle at top with Napoli and tomorrow’s match is seen as an opportunity to kickstart the season and push on to retain the title.

However, the newspaper warns that Inter must shackle Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who has been likened to Romelu Lukaku at the Nerazzurri last year for his impact in firing the team to the Scudetto.
