Fiorentina Coach Vincenzo Italiano: “For Me Inter Are Still Scudetto Favourites”

Fiorentina head coach Vincenzo Italiano believes that Inter remain the favourites to defend their Scudetto crown from last season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Rai after the Viola defeated AC Milan on Saturday, the coach praised the Nerazzurri’s qualities and named them as the title favourites in Serie A.

Inter took a significant step towards overhauling the deficit established by city rivals AC Milan and by Napoli with their 3-2 win over the Partenoepi yesterday evening.

Alongside the Rossoneri’s defeat at the hands of Italiano’s Fiorentina side, this result means that Inter exit the weekend four points behind the league leaders having been seven going in.

Italiano believes that, at any rate, the Nerazzurri are the team to beat in Serie A, and still have everything that they need to go on and win the league once again even with their less impressive start to the campaign than their two main rivals.

Asked who he considered to be Scudetto favourites, Italiano stated that “For me it’s still Inter. They are the strongest team physically and technically.”

“They have high-quality substitutes and yesterday’s victory showed that Inter is the team that can best aspire to win the Scudetto.”
