Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella will be rested for the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Venezia this evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 24-year-old will start this evening’s match on the bench and that one of Roberto Gagliardini or Matias Vecino will start in place of him.

Barella has been a key player for both Inter and the Italian national team this season, starting regularly for both his club and for the Azzurri.

The midfielder has not been in his best form in recent matches, and has also had to be substituted during the second half in recent appearances at club and international level due to fatigue.

Nerazzurri head coach Simone Inzaghi will give the 24-year-old the chance to catch his breath during the match against Venezia, as keeping the midfielder from burning out is one of the major priorities for squad rotation.
