Legendary former Roma, Real Madrid, and Inter striker Antonio Conte believes that Inter look strong enough to be a serious contender in the Champions League this season.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, Cassano gave the view that the Nerazzurri have the quality not only to have a strong season domestically but also to compete in Europe.

The Nerazzurri endured a frustrating start to their Champions League campaign, with a last-minute loss to Real Madrid and a goalless draw away to Shakhtar Donetsk leaving them on just one point.

However, three consecutive wins in the competition have meant that Inter have secured qualification for the knockout rounds with a game to spare, and have complemented their strong form in Serie A.

Cassano is of the view that the Nerazzurri can make a significant impact in the knockouts given the quality that they have.

He commented on the style of the team, stating that “Conte gave them a structure, Simone came in and and carefully added his ideas. For example, Dimarco in the back three, which adds another quality.”

“This team now aims to press their opponents high,” he went on. “I like this characteristic.”

“They will fight for the Scudetto with Milan and Napoli, and in the Champions League they can give anyone a hard time,” he continued, “because they are European-quality team.

Cassano said that “They want to impose their game. And there is a positive morale in the entire squad. Just look at Ranocchia, who was the best player on the pitch in his two starts.”
