Former Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiasso has said that he wants Inter to draw Manchester United in the Round of 16 draw in the Champions League, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.
Speaking whilst on Sky Sport, via FCInter1908, the former Argentina midfielder explained that he wants to see Inter go to Old Trafford as he feels Manchester United will be a very interesting opponent by the time the ties are played in February.
“This is the Champions League, you have to play with the best, I would like to go to Old Trafford and dream big.
“I am convinced that United in February with Rangnick, who have very clearly in mind what they want to do, will be another team. They will have the ability to fight, in transfer market they will do a lot.”
Manchester United very recently appointed influential German coach Ralf Rangnick as the interim manager until the end of the season. It is widely assumed that the Red Devils will be much more formidable opponent in two months time than they are right now.
That is why Esteban Cambiasso has chosen them as his desired opponent. He feels that Manchester United will give Inter the best indication of where they are as a team right now in relation to the rest of Europe.
“I did not choose them because they are the weakest but because it is the most suggestive test for Inter.”
