Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is content with seeing Alexis Sanchez start in attack against Cagliari.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN before the match, the coach explained that he decided to start the Chilean after considering what the best lineup would be for the match and for the team.

Sanchez starts only his second match of the season against the Rossoblu, having also assisted a goal starting in the Nerazzuri’s 2-0 win over Empoli in October.

Injuries have restricted the 32-year-old’s availability, while his playing time has not been consistent even when he has looked to be fully fit.

However, the coach is ready to trust Sanchez from the start against Cagliari even though the player is not one of the regular starters, and expects a good performance from him in a crucial game which gives the Nerazzurri the opportunity to go top of the table for the first time this season.

On the selection of Sanchez in the starting eleven, the coach stated that “These are assessments that I have to make. This is the seventh game in a very few days, I can rotate some players even if not too many, based on availability.”

“We know that we have to play a tough game,” he went on, “Cagliari come off the back of four good games and deserve more points than they have gotten.”

“I think this is an important moment in the season,” he added. “We are reaching the end of the first round.”

“We have to look at ourselves, improve each day, and play as we have been doing for a long time,” the coach stated. “We have to play with the right temperament because tonight will not be easy.”
