Inter striker Lautaro Martinez will hope that he can get on the scoresheet and continue to establish form and consistency against Cagliari this evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who suggest that the Argentine will want to “make up for lost time” after a barren spell earlier in the season.

Martinez has taken a fair bit of pressure on his shoulders this campaign, with the 24-year-old committing his future to the Nerazzurri with a new contract not long after the departure of talismanic striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Argentine started the season in goalscoring form before a goal drought lasting much of October left some doubt about whether he could lead the line for the Nerazzurri.

Since the return from the November international break the 24-year-old has been back in form, with a massive goal in the Nerazzurri’s 3-2 win over Napoli breaking his duck.

However, the striker will still look back on that period in October and feel that he must do all he can to not just avoid another period of form like that but also compensate by showing his absolute best in the games that remain before the end of the year.
