Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries feels ready to fight for the top spot in the Serie A table against Cagliari along with his teammates.

Speaking to InterTV prior to kickoff, the Dutchman explained that he feels totally fit and is excited to do everything to take advantage by slip-ups by other teams at the top end of the table with three points against the Rossoblu.

Inter have been catching up to Milan and Napoli for some weeks since the return from the November international break, having been seven points behind the two going into the break.

Now, the Nerazzurri can complete the job by going top of the table after the Rossoneri drew against Udinese yesterday, while they can also go four points ahead of the Partenopei.

Cagliari will not be an easy team to beat, and they will be fighting hard for a result to get themselves out of the relegation places, but Dumfries is looking forward to trying.

On his fitness after a knock against Real Madrid he stated that “I feel good, I am ready. Obviously against Real Madrid I felt a bit of pain but now I feel fine, I have trained well and I am ready. I can’t wait to play.”

On the prospect of taking top spot in the table for the first time this season, Dumfries stated that “That is why tonight is so important. We know what we have to do tonight, and as always we want to win.”

“We are focused,” he went on, “we know what we are capable of and we have confidence in the quality of the team. We are energized.”

“I always feel confident,” Dumfries added, “especially at this moment. I am very optimistic about today, I like to play regularly. Today I can feel that everyone is confident in me, most importantly.”
