Inter face a team with whom they have had many connections over the past few seasons when they host Cagliari at the San Siro this evening.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who highlight some of the common points between the two teams ahead of their Serie A clash.

Rossoblu President Tommaso Giulini is someone who had been on the Nerazzurri board of directors at one point before taking over at the Sardinian side.

Moreover, one of Inter’s current key players is a Cagliari academy product in the form of midfielder Nicolo Barella, who joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2019 after impressing for several seasons in Sardinia.

On the other hand, a number of transfers have gone the other way in recent weeks, with Diego Godin and on-loan Dalbert both in Cagliari’s squad after moves from Inter, while current Rossoblu striker Keita Balde also spent a season on loan with the Nerazzurri.

And on the bench for Cagliari will be former Inter head coach Walter Mazzarri, who has since turned up at the likes of Watford and Torino before making his return to replace Leonardo Semplici at the Rossoblu earlier this season.
