Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that drawing Liverpool in the Champions League round of sixteen makes for an even more difficult matchup than Ajax.

Speaking briefly while receiving the Tapiro d’oro, as reported by FCInter1908, the 45-year-old gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s Champions League draw yesterday.

Inter initially thought that they had been paired with Dutch champions Ajax in the round of sixteen after the first UEFA Champions League draw.

The Amsterdam side looked like they would be a very difficult test for Inzaghi’s team, having won all six of their group stage matches with an organized possession-based style of play.

However, it soon became apparent that the draw would have to be re-done due to improper procedure then first time around, and on the second go around the Nerazzurri drew Liverpool as their first knockout round opponent.

The Reds are one of the form teams in England and on the continent at the moment, and Inzaghi feels that even compared to a strong opponent like Ajax they make for very formidable opposition.

“It didn’t go very well even on the first go around,” he said of their draw, “and then the second time it was even worse.”

He added of the tie against the English side that “We’ll think about it in February. We will certainly give it a go.”
