Inter are the team who are best-equipped to go on and win the Scudetto race for several reasons, according to Italian media.

This from today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who highlight the strength of their squad, their style of play, and the relative absence of injuries as advantages over their rivals at the top end of the table.

Inter overtook city rivals AC Milan at the top of Serie A for the first time over the weekend, putting themselves firmly in the driver’s seat to defend their Scudetto crown.

The season will be long and all of the top sides have the quality to go all the way and win the Scudetto but Inter have some unique advantages according to the Corriere.

Inter’s squad depth is one aspect that should make them able to cope with the challenges to come over the rest of the season.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has already proved adept at getting the best out of virtually all the players in his squad, consistently getting results while making targeted rotations to his starting elevens and substitutions.

The Nerazzurri can boast a number of options both in terms of their top players as well as players more on the fringes of the squad who the manager has been able to involve in excellent team performances.

Injuries have been another factor in the Nerazzurri’s favour compared to some of their main rivals for the title.

While Inter have dealt with a number of key absences, especially in defense where they recently had something of an injury crisis, they have not missed players the way that AC Milan and Napoli have.

Lastly, the newspaper highlights the Nerazzurri’s style of play as something that will give them the ability to defend their Scudetto.

Inter have been on a winning run in Serie A lately, winning five from five since the international break, and there was no coincidence involved in this being the case.

The Nerazzurri’s performances against all manner of opposition have seen them dominate possession and territory, laying on the scoring chances while conceding virtually none.

Now that Inter are top of the table, their main rivals will have to hope that they slip up and let them back into the chase for the Scudetto, and based on the above factors this could be very difficult to see happening.
