Inter are one match away from being “winter champions” for the season, and could enjoy the coronation even sooner depending on other results this weekend.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who highlight the positive form the Nerazzurri have enjoyed over the past few weeks and how it has led to this encouraging moments.

Inter had been seven points behind league leaders AC Milan and Napoli when they returned from the November international break, but they have managed to win all their games in Serie A since that point to overtake both.

Their 5-0 win against Salernitana is only the latest and most emphatic display of the Nerazzurri’s superiority over a number of Serie A opponents, and lifts them closer to being top of the table over the winter break.

Inter will guarantee themselves this “winter champion” status should they beat Torino on Wednesday, and this will be the result of a dramatic surge in the team’s momentum in the last few matches.
