Inter are considering a move for Empoli defender Fabiano Parisi next summer, but likely only if Stefan de Vrij leaves the club.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are targeting the 21-year-old to complete their defensive options in the event that de Vrij is sold.

Parisi has impressed with his performances on the left for newly-promoted Empoli this season, and this has earned him the attention of the Nerazzurri who see him as a potential long-term successor to Ivan Perisic should the Croatian leave next summer.

Right now Federico Dimarco is also a player who can deputize on the left and could be one of the options to take over from Perisic on a permanent basis.

However, the 24-year-old has also been used regular on the left side of a back three season, and this could become his main role in the future.

Stefan de Vrij’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June 2023, and should the club not agree a deal with the 29-year-old then he could be sold next summer.

In this event, Alessandro Bastoni would likely be moved from the left of the defense to the middle, meaning that the left-sided role would be handed to Dimarco as a starter.

Should this come to pass, then the Nerazzurri could turn to Parisi to shore up the options capable of operating in the left wing-back role next summer.
