Venezia Sporting Director Mattia Collauto believes that Inter look like the top side in Serie A right now but that there is still a long way to go in the Scudetto race.
Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the executive suggested that even though Inter look to be the strongest team in the Italian top flight they still must fight off their competition at the top.
The Nerazzurri have surged ahead of AC Milan and Napoli to the top of the Serie A table in recent weeks, winning six matches from six while their top rivals dropped points to overturn a seven-point deficit.
Inter are now mathematically guaranteed to finish as “winter champions” and head into the second half of the season top of the table.
However, even leading the way and playing in good form, there is still more than half a season of football to be played, and Collauto cautioned against being too presumptuous about the Scudetto race.
“I don’t think it’s decided, it’s a season that will have surprises in store,” he stated. “Milan-Napoli was wonderful, Inter are back to being the strongest team.”
