Udinese midfielder Tolgay Arslan feels that Inter made a major coup in the transfer market by signing Hakan Calhanoglu from city rivals AC Milan over the summer.
Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the 31-year-old praised the quality that Calhanoglu has while also speaking of the pair’s friendship.
Calhanoglu had been in Serie A for four years when Inter moved for him, spending a four-year deal at the Rossoneri.
While there, the Turkish midfielder had established himself as one of the more creative midfielders in the division although he also had a reputation for inconsistency and his club were reluctant to offer him a new deal in line with his demands.
Inter took advantage of the situation and swooped, and after a couple months settling in he has become very important to the Nerazzurri’s great form on their Scudetto charge.
Arslan is a fan of the signing, stating that “Inter made a great signing when they brought him in during the summer.”
“Hakan has a great head and a wonderful foot,” he added. “Just look at how he takes corners.”
The German gave the view that “He can help Inter win the Scudetto.”
“And I must say that he gave me a lot of support when I moved to Italy,” he said about his swtich from Fenerbahce to Udinese in the summer of 2020, with the pair having been friends since their time together at Hamburg.
