Inter are hoping the keep Matias Vecino in the squad for the rest of the season, rather than letting him leave in January.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 30-year-old would be one of the likeliest players to depart next month but that the club prefer to keep him on.
Vecino’s contract is set to expire at the end of June 2022, but he could even leave the Nerazzurri before then.
The Uruguayan has stated that he is not happy with the amount of playing time that he has received so far this season, and looks to be a target for a number of clubs in Serie A and elsewhere in Europe.
The midfielder could be on his way out during the January transfer window in which chase there is a good chance that a replacement would be signed in midfield.
However, the club’s preference is to continue to rely on Vecino until the end of his current contract.
