Former AC Milan defender Luca Antonini has admitted that Inter are currently much stronger than the Rossoneri in terms of squads and form, according to a report in the Italian print media.

Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Luca Antonini stated that Inter has a stronger and more complete squad than the team who are now sat four points behind them in second place in the Serie A table.

“At the moment Inter are certainly stronger, in terms of depth and completeness of the squad.”

Luca Antonini then went on to explain that AC Milan badly needs to enter the January transfer market for a new central defender next month because they have been left very short in that area due to injuries.

Stefano Pioli’s side were already operating with just Fikayo Tomori, Simon Kjaer, and Alessio Romagnoli as senior options. Now Simon Kjaer is injured for many months, they must buy an immediate replacement.

“Milan need a central defender and it seems to me that this is the first goal of the Rossoneri managers for the next transfer market.

“But they also need a reinforcement in midfield: to overcome the period of the African Cup without Kessie and Bennacer will not be a joke, also because we know from experience that when the players return from the African Cup they need more time to get back to the top.”

Lille defender Sven Botman has been viewed as an option.
