Inter captain Samir Handanovic is still considering whether or not he wants to stay on with the Nerazzurri past next summer.

This according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, who report that the 37-year-old has not yet decided on what he wants to do once Andre Onana arrives from Ajax next summer.

Onana is set to sign a contract with the Nerazzurri in the coming weeks, with the Cameroonian identified as the long-term successor to Handanovic in goal and ready to leave Ajax on a free transfer at the end of his contract next summer.

Handanovic also sees his current deal expire at the end of June 2022, and as of yet the Slovenian has not agreed on an extension with the club.

The captain would still be offered a renewal, but to stay on as a backup while Onana settles in, and at reduced wages from the net €3.2 million per season which he currently earns.
