Inter are targeting Roma midfielder Gonzalo Villar as they see him as an ideal player to back up Marcelo Brozovic in the squad.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri are ready to try and bring the 23-year-old in.
Brozovic is perhaps the only player in the Nerazzurri’s squad other than Edin Dzeko who has no real backup with the same playing characteristics.
So far the 29-year-old has been one of the most reliable figures in the team and has rarely been displaced from the role of regista in Simone Inzaghi’s side.
However, the club could also look to bring in a player who could replace the Croat in certain games and give him a chance to rest as the team face a hectic fixture schedule.
Villar looks to be the profile that the Nerazzurri have identified for a move of this nature in the January transfer window.
