Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi will not play against Inter on Sunday due to an injury he picked up against Empoli, according to a report in the Italian media.
As has been reported by Il Messaggero, the Italian defender was substituted by Maurizio Sarri in the 24the minute of the Biancocelsesti’s match against Empoli on Thursday due to a thigh injury. he was replaced by Patric.
It was known that tests would be carried out after the match to see if he could recover in time to face Inter but it is now clear that he definitely will not be in the Lazio squad for that match at San Siro.
It is likely that Patric will start in his place against the Nerazzurri instead which means Lazio will certainly be weaker in defence than they would have hoped given they are facing the strongest attack in the entire division on Sunday night.
