City rivals Inter and AC Milan look to be the two teams competing for the Scudetto over the rest of the season, and their fixture lists could be the key in determining the destination of the Scudetto.

This is noted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who highlight the differing fixture calendars faced by each side across a packed rest of the season.

No schedule can necessarily be considered easy in Serie A, as the Rossoneri’s shock loss at home to Spezia yesterday demonstrated.

However, there is little doubt that certain matches can pose more of a challenge than other on paper, and Milan in particular will feel that they have an imposing calendar ahead of them.

Apart from a potentially Scudetto-deciding derby with Inter in twenty days’ time, the Rossoneri have to face Juventus just before then, as well as away trips to play Torino, Lazio, Sassuolo,Napoli, and Verona.

Meanwhile, Milan must also face Atalanta and Fiorentina at the San Siro during the period, hardly straightforward fixtures.

The Nerazzurri have three tough away fixtures in the form of Juventus, Napoli, and Torino ahead of them, but other than that could feel that they have an easier run-in than their city rivals.

On the other hand, Inter will have Champions League commitments to preoccupy them while Milan will only have to deal with the Coppa Italia in addition to the league.

Moreover, none of these matches should have their results taken for granted, and there are no easy fixtures in Serie A nor are their guaranteed losses or dropped points.

However, looking at the overall quality across each team’s slate of opponents, the Nerazzurri could feel that they face less of a challenge than their city rivals.
