Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is happy with the long-term vision shown by club President Steven Zhang.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster TeleLombardia, as reported by FCInterNews, the executive emphasized that working under Zhang he feels supported in planning for the Nerazzurri’s future.
Marotta has enjoyed a successful tenure at Inter since joining in 2018, and he is expected to renew his contract with the club soon.
The executive has worked well along with the rest of the directors and Zhang and owners Suning, steering the team to success on the pitch despite financial restrictions exacerbated by the pandemic.
Marotta had nothing but positive things to say about the way that Zhang handles the club, and feels that the President’s vision is at the heart of everything that has gone well.
“When a director is in a top position like mine, it’s important to have excellent diplomacy, interpersonal skills, and confidence, this is the most important weapon we have,” he said.
“The rest comes from the foresight of the owners,” he added, “and I’m lucky to work with owners with a long-term vision,” he said of Zhang.
Marotta also spoke about the passing of famous former Venezia and Palermo owner Maurizio Zamparini, who he worked with for several years at Venezia during the earlier parts of his career.
“I’m sorry to hear of his passing because I met him as a friend even before I knew him as a President,” he reflected.
“I urged him to buy Venezia,” he went on. “I spent five wonderful years with him, full of strong emotions and culminating in promotion.”
He recalled that “I think back on him with respect and admiration. He also signed a hard core from the 2006 national team, -Toni, Zaccardo, Barzagli, Grosso. He had a great eye for talent.”
